From Uganda’s misty highlands to the lowland jungles of the Congo and Central African Republic, great apes navigate landscapes increasingly fractured by agriculture, logging, political unrest, and human settlements. The Great Apes project bears witness to the lives of lowland and highland gorillas and chimpanzees, revealing their resilience, fragility, and complex family relationships.
We share over 98% of our DNA, yet great apes remain understudied due to their elusive nature and remote habitats. Through storytelling and compelling images, we can foster the empathy and urgency needed to protect our wild kin from human diseases, poaching, and displacement. Conservation is not only about protection; it’s also about learning to coexist in a rapidly changing environment.
